Dear United Nations...

Dear United Nations...

Can someone join me to ask UN where the International WIDOWS Day theme for June 23, 2021 is?

I dislike the word widow with a passion but remains the only entry in the dictionary for the tag I now wear with pride. The Bible does not call me one as I have the ability, capability and capacity to sustain myself. And hundreds more IF the State of New Jersey release surplus from the illegal sale of one home and serve justice in the hijack of three others.

That I am tagged widow would mean nothing if United Nations, United Nations Women, United States of America and others who claim to honour and uphold rights of women and indeed human rights are not part of the abuse I experience.

The absence of widows from many programmes, from many parastatals, from manifestos, from discourse and worst still, the lack of plan for the International Widows Day is shockingly glaring and unfortunate in 2021.

In America, I got robbed of all we own and every leader I have written to including Rev. Al Sharpton, Ms. Oprah Winfrey, Governor Murphy... played deaf, dumb and blind. Media colleagues in Nigeria have done much to shout out loud since the fraud was cooked in Nigeria by the staff of Lagos State Judiciary. But, the media in America where the fraud was served turkey cold to freeze my mind has remained mute and refused to air the story. One of those who has played a side role in the fraud that led to hijack of our $4.5M homes plus belongings in Nigeria and USA is a staff of UN Women!

This is one story, that cut across borders and need to be shared this #IWD #InternationalWidowsDay. Just search widow abuse Omolola Omoteso or Omolola Famuyiwa and capture the essence of the trauma abusers tried to inject and against which I have elected to STAND IN STRENGTH. A racial, sexist and classist connivance that needs the mediation of the Supreme Court.

In many countries where UN or UN Women does anything for widows, it is more to make speeches and give handouts, rather than hold serious talks to bring widow abuse to an end, seek justice for widows, criminalise abuse, reform probate laws, create welfare programmes etc.

I have done extensive research and clearly see how widow abuse, successor rights fraud, discrimination, dehumanisation and disinheritance of women especially widows is linked to high rate of crime and terrorism.

UN has not paid adequate attention to International Widows Day. Having a day just for the sake of having one will not auto stop abuse or auto delete the effect. What is this year's theme for instance? I bet one would be hurriedly cooked up... Folks are still cycling the theme - Invisible Women, Invisible Problems. This theme as annoying as it is, has been cycled again and again since 2017.

Yes, many widows seems invisible because of stigma, trauma etc., which are direct effects of abuse but the problems of women and widows are CAPITALLY VISIBLE. As I said in my message, widow abuse is a pandemic that must end!
