Muslims protect Christians during Christmas Service

This wasn't the first; it occurred here and there and vice versa i.e Christians protecting Muslims in different communities across the nation. We need more of situations like this; it would definitely frustrate the tokens of all this bent on cannibalising Nigeria along religious lines. This report by Segun Adebowale which appeared on Eagle Online is a pointer to how love for one another can help destroy the brewing evil of disunity created by those bent on eating the national cake alone forever.

“I really appreciate their love and care,” said the cleric. According to him, the feat is the first of its kind after the series of crises that rocked the state in recent past.

More than 200 Muslim youth volunteers are part of those protecting Christians during church services to celebrate this year’s Christmas in Kaduna, says Pastor Yohanna Buru.
Buru, a cleric of the Christ Evangelical Church, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna South, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Kaduna.
He confirmed that over 200 Muslims were at his church to help protect the faithful from any attack during the church service.

“I really appreciate their love and care,” said the cleric. According to him, the feat is the first of its kind after the series of crises that rocked the state in recent past.

Buru said the essence was to protect Christian worshippers as part of effort to strengthen peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians in the state.

The pastor expressed happiness over the protection given to them by the Muslim brothers.
He noted the initiative was an indication that peace has come to stay in the state, saying the measure will strengthen a lasting peace between the two religions.

He also prayed God to continue to bring about peace in the country.

He prayed that other citizens would emulate the gesture.

Buru urged Nigerians to learn to live in peace with one another irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.

The cleric said that peace was a major panacea to the positive development of any nation.
